Illustrator James Montgomery Flagg is best remembered for creating the iconic World War I "I Want You" poster featuring Uncle Sam. Many of his personal letters are beautifully illustrated, including one of the two in this eBay lot. It seems Flagg has an eye for a married woman--"Boots" or "Tip" Murray--to whom he sends these 1949 typewritten missives. In fact he apparently is working quite hard to get her to accept a watercolor he painted "of you sitting on your delectable arse by the brookside..." Who could resist such an offer?
