Would You Spend $1 Million on This?

Cases of art forgery are nothing new, unfortunately. The case of John Re in today's Times is remarkable though not only for its scope, but for the bizarre fact that he put about $1 million of his ill-gotten gains into a submarine! The vessel, which is called "Deep Quest," does not dive and may be no more than a "movie prop" refurbished at great cost. He used it as a "luxury houseboat."

Is there anyone reading this blog that could not have put the money to far better use?
